Copperheads' office closing temporarily

ASHEBORO -  In order to minimize the risk of catching and spreading the coronavirus, the Asheboro Copperheads office, located at 603 N. Fayetteville St., in Asheboro, will be closing temporarily beginning Monday, March 23. The office will remain closed for an undetermined time. Fans can still reach Copperheads personnel by calling 336-460-7018 or by emailing General Manager Dennis Garcia at dgarcia@teamcopperhead.com or General Manager and Head Coach Keith Ritsche at kritsche@teamcopperhead.com.

"We certainly don't want to inconvenience any of our fans, but the severity of this virus is something very real and we, as an organization, will do everything possible to make sure we keep everyone safe," Copperheads General Manager Dennis Garcia said. "We have looked at and discussed what people and organizations far more knowledgeable than us are saying and we feel the safest route for all would be to close our doors for the time being."

Although the Copperheads' van will be parked for a while, the Copperheads' front office personnel will continue to get ready for the new season, which is slated to start May 27 with an exhibition game against the Randolph County Post 45 American Legion team.

On Wednesday, each of he 15 teams received a release from the Coastal Plain League stating the season had not yet been postponed or cancelled due to COVID-19.
